Designing Spidey’s Webs | Todd McFarlane & Jim Salicrup

In this monumental panel, Jim Salicrup & Todd McFarlane break down the creative process of designing Spider-Man’s webs. Noted to be challenging to other artists, McFarlane & Salicrup’s webbing was made with a 3rd dimensional view in mind. “I just wanted to have something I could shoot towards camera and the way that everyone was drawing in that time was not conducive to doing that,” McFarlane says.

The legendary comic book writer later goes on to say: “We’re all a combination prior things we’ve seen before. We don’t create in a vacuum… I go, man, I learned my capes from those two “great guys,” I learned my buildings from “this,” I learned my machinery from George Perez… and what you end up doing is taking like 20-30 people and you may only like one or two things they do; then you mush it together, mix it up, and you spill it out. That becomes your personal style that’s unique. It’s a recipe that no one else is doing.” Artistic form and creativity is a culmination of inspirations we’ve consumed from other artists. “I think every artist can go back and dissect their own style and point to the people that were influencing them along the way.”

Grammy Nominee Vincent Lyn Performs The Christmas Song

The Christmas Song performed by Grammy Nominee: Vincent Lyn

VINCENT LYN was born to a British musical prodigy mother and a Chinese father whose family formed the Ling Gar kung fu style, from which Wing Chun was partly based. Vincent has followed both lineages — first to Hong Kong, where he became a model and top ten song composer before taking his martial art skills into the golden age of HK action movies. He has starred in more than two dozen international hits, including Outlaw Brothers, Tiger Cage, and Jackie Chan’s Operation Condor, as well as Cynthia Rothrock’s The Blonde Fury. He followed his musical muse back to the U.S. where he has headlined four concerts at Carnegie Hall as well as released several Grammy-nominated albums. Having, in Jackie Chan’s words, “done everything three times,” Vincent is now pursuing social justice as an Economic and Social Council to the United Nations (ECOSOC), and started We Can Save Children — a nonprofit organization whose mission is to rescue and recover children in Africa and the Middle East.

Is Santa The Most Legendary Figure?

Amongst all the chaos and uncertainty, one thing has remained clear – Santa Claus Is Still Coming To Town! Christmas 2020 is just around the corner. We got the wonderful opportunity to sit down with the “Big Man” himself and ask him: “Santa, with all the holiday and spiritual legendary figures, why are you the most legendary?”

To which he replied: “I’m not going to say “I’m the most legendary.” I only say… I’m Santa!”

Santa doesn’t care about being legendary or competing with the Easter Bunny or Tooth Fairy. Santa reassured us that the only thing he cares about is bringing toys to nice people. “I don’t represent anything, but kindness and being nice.”

Other icons, like the Sandman or the Boogieman have “baggage,” as Santa says. “What matters is that I’m nice… I don’t like to be purposefully, consciously mean or unkind.” Santa continues to express that the most important thing for us right now is expressing kindness.

Kindness is universal, never-changing. In a year where people have lost so much and we’ve witnessed atrocity after atrocity, it’s important to remember that being kind is not only free – it’s the right thing to do. “…Even for people who’ve been so hurt, and are so sad… they can still recognize niceness and feel it in their hearts and minds,” Santa says.
